Snow in the Summer

The Ring my thesis short film. A magician goes back in time to see his lover that separated due to War.

This story is about trauma.
One is the trauma of national identity and the other is sexual identity. I wanted to express how much these wounds affect a person's life and how much support and love is a great hope for that person.

One of the inspirations is my grandmother's experience of the Korean War. Her brother was forcibly conscripted by the North Korean army when she was very young, and the two could not meet until she died.

The Korean War and Japanese colonial era have changed too much of the Korean sentiment and are having a lot of negative effects on the current generation who have never experienced those wars in personally. Korean society chooses materialism and competition to treat this pain, making life impoverished, but I hope we live with better values of love and understanding, empathy and support as a motif.
